In 2001 werd Elvis That's The Way It Is opnieuw uitgebracht als Special Edition. Dit keer werden de irritante fans met hun verhaal over de poes die Elvis fan was, en een tandloze debiel uit deze topfilm weggeknipt en voorzien van nieuwe beelden. Wat was nu het geval, MGM had 31 uur aan ruwe filmbeelden liggen die opnieuw gemasterd moesten worden. Het beeldmateriaal wat niet gebruikt werd (was wel voorzien van de tekst midden in het beeld Property of Warner) is uiteindelijk in handen gekomen van bootleggers. Toen de eerste schijven aan privéverzamelaars werden verkocht was de prijs $1000 per schijf (in totaal 31 schijven dus tel uit je winst). De bedoeling was dat het aantal beperkt zou blijven tot een handvol verzamelaars maar zie hier het resultaat. Deze 3 DVD set was het begin van een waterval aan DVD's waarvan deze er 1 is. Later kwam er nog een DVD set uit waarvan het geluid in 5.1 is maar nu gaat het om deze sublieme dvd.
